6th Grade Pali Camp

Posted by on Sep 7, 2017 in 6th GRADE, E V E N T S, Field Trips / Enriched Learning | 0 comments

Humanities Academy offers an overnight field trip at every grade level. For 6th grade, that trip is to Pali Camp, located in the San Bernardino Mountains near Lake Arrowhead. Pali Camp is not only an educational experience, meeting some of our science standards, but it is also a trip where students get a chance to meet the kids in their academy away from school and bond with them on a personal level. Beyond that, it is also a time where they are met with individual challenges, team building, and have an opportunity to overcome and grow alongside their school community. The trip is lead by Ms. Siminski along with the other 6th grade Humanities teachers, and has become a truly wonderful experience for our 6th graders to share.

2017 Pali Camp Details:

Camp Dates: October 11–13

First Deposit:  $50 / due Friday, Aug. 18

Final payment of $250 / due Wed., Aug. 30

Total Cost: $300 (includes 3 day / 2 night trip stay, meals, bus transportation, instruction + camp chaperones)

Summer 2016

Greetings Humanities Academy Students and Families!
Your adventures in middle school are about to begin! We’re thrilled to have you as a part of our academy. We are the Humanities Academy teachers: Mrs. Siminski, Ms. Mintz, Mrs. Holbrook, and Ms. Mansfield. You can expect homework regularly and a year of hard work, creative projects, and thought-provoking discussions.
Please pick at least two books from Reed’s 2016-2017 Battle of the Books list to read and come to school ready to discuss your books. This list encompasses a wide variety of genres and reading levels. Battle of the Books is a reading incentive competition where teams answer questions in a family feud type competition. Students consistently rave about the fun they have during this event. Summer is a great time to get a head start on the competition, which takes place in Spring 2017. The Humanities Academy always does very well at this competition! Also, don’t forget to look for the math in everyday life!
We’ve also posted our required supply list for those of you who want to shop early, directions for the letter, requested supplies, and the new Battle of the Books list. Whew!
We look forward to getting to know each of you next year. Here are some fun tidbits about us!
Who’s who?
  • One of us is going camping at the beach; one of us is going across the country
  • One person sang in a in a New Wave band; one person was a theater actress
  • Three of us drive less than 5 miles to school; one of us drives 45 miles to school
  • One of us has a fashion design degree; one in theater and two in psychology
  • We all love to dance!
Hope to see you at the beach or orientation,
Ms. Siminski, Ms. Mintz, Ms. Holbrook, and Ms. Mansfield
