Friends of Reed – Humanities Academy

8th Grade Leadership Camp

FOR-Humanities is excited to bring a new parent-organized retreat to our 8th Grade Class this year at the WOLF Camp in Malibu over the weekend of May 18-20th. This 3 day / 2 night trip will focus on valuable leadership and team building skills. Through fun and challenging activities, students will celebrate their middle school years and bond with their friends as they get ready to move on to new adventures. The oceanside location at Wolf Camp features private beach access, challenging high and low ropes courses, a 65-foot climbing wall, beautiful tide pools, outdoor amphitheater, Olympic size swimming pool and an archery range. The camp covers over 120 acres with upscale cabins nestled off the Pacific Coast Highway. A detailed itinerary of activities will follow soon. More information about this camp can be found online at http://www.wolfadventures.org/hess-kramer/

Backpacks/textbooks/lockers
To accommodate heavy books, a rolling backpack is useful. 6th grade lockers are not near the 6th grade bungalows, so are difficult to access between classes.
Books can be copied & bound into segments, so students don’t have to carry the entire book to school. Self-copying at a copy/print shop is suggested. Many teachers have a classroom set of textbooks to use, so that students can leave their textbook at home for homework use.
