FOR-Humanities is excited to bring a new parent-organized retreat to our 8th Grade Class this year at the WOLF Camp in Malibu over the weekend of May 18-20th. This 3 day / 2 night trip will focus on valuable leadership and team building skills. Through fun and challenging activities, students will celebrate their middle school years and bond with their friends as they get ready to move on to new adventures. The oceanside location at Wolf Camp features private beach access, challenging high and low ropes courses, a 65-foot climbing wall, beautiful tide pools, outdoor amphitheater, Olympic size swimming pool and an archery range. The camp covers over 120 acres with upscale cabins nestled off the Pacific Coast Highway. A detailed itinerary of activities will follow soon. Remember FOR-HA this Giving Season

Dear Families,

As 2016 draws to a close, many of you are considering your charitable donations for the year.  We’d love for you to consider making a donation to Friends of Humanities Academy.  Your donation goes directly to helping your child’s teachers make the classroom more interesting, challenging, and more engaging. FORHA donations are the reason that our kids have laptops in the classroom, overnight field trips to Pali Camp and Nature Bridge, UpFront and Scope Magazines for classroom use, the list goes on and on.  We need your help to continue to provide this unique middle school experience for these unique Humanities students.

FORHA works closely with other groups at Walter Reed, such as Music and Friends of Reed, which benefit all students at Reed.  We encourage you to consider donating to these groups as well as to FORHA.

Thank you, have a wonderful holiday season, and we’ll see you in the New Year!

~Your Friends at FORHA

Hello 6th Grade!
Please meet some of the Humanities teachers, Mrs Siminski (one of two Language Arts/ Ancient Civilizations), Ms. Holbrook (Math/Science), and Ms. Mansfield (Math/Science) and Parent Representatives from FOHA at Zuma Beach in Malibu on Saturday, July 30th from 10:00am – 2:00pm, for swimming, lunch and socializing with your soon to be classmates/ families from the Humanities Academy. This is a great way to meet other incoming Humanities students/parents. Be sure to pack beach chairs, sunscreen, lunch/snacks, towel, bathing suit, and any toys/games to help entertain the kids.
Look for the Humanities sign at lifeguard station number 3. Beach parking rates are $3 – $10, depending on length of stay. Lastly, please be advised this is not a drop off event; each student must be accompanied by a supervising adult.

We look forward to getting to know you!

Thanks FOHA Families!

We are winding down a great year, and it’s all because of you!  We all know that middle school isn’t the smoothest time in a child’s life (Did you love middle school when you were a kid?  Better keep that to yourself!) This isn’t the easiest time in the life of a parent either.  Our Humanities community makes this time easier, more tolerable, and sometimes even fun!  As we say goodbye to old friends and hello to new ones, please know that however much you were able to help this year, we appreciate you!  Check out our Facebook page, it has some great photos from the year and some interesting posts!
