8th Grade Leadership Camp

FOR-Humanities is excited to bring a new parent-organized retreat to our 8th Grade Class this year at the WOLF Camp in Malibu over the weekend of May 18-20th. This 3 day / 2 night trip will focus on valuable leadership and team building skills. Through fun and challenging activities, students will celebrate their middle school years and bond with their friends as they get ready to move on to new adventures. The oceanside location at Wolf Camp features private beach access, challenging high and low ropes courses, a 65-foot climbing wall, beautiful tide pools, outdoor amphitheater, Olympic size swimming pool and an archery range. The camp covers over 120 acres with upscale cabins nestled off the Pacific Coast Highway. A detailed itinerary of activities will follow soon. Parents and Students We Are Asking For Your Help!

As you know, the recent accident involving one of our students being hit by a car only highlights the hazardous nature of the Cross-Walk at Irvine & Moorpark. WRMS administration has met with the city and determined the following improvements be made to make it safe for pedestrians. We NEED YOUR HELP to move this request to the top of the city’s “to do” list! Please CALL, WRITE or EMAIL Councilmember Paul Krekorian to highlight our need, and have these changes made as soon as possible.

Ms. Gamba has provided the following template letter to guide your personal request.

Hello Mr. Krekorian,

I am writing to lend my voice to the others in our community who have communicated their request for a lit crosswalk with an overarching pole (with lights) at the corner of Moorpark and Irvine.  When our student Nathan was struck by a car at this intersection last month, it was one of several accidents involving injured students over the last several years at this corner.

In addition, we are requesting a sidewalk be extended on Irvine from the edge of our school parking lot to MoorparkIt’s unsafe for the children to be walking in the street because there is no sidewalk on that portion of the street.

Thank you for your time and please let me know if you would like to speak in person regarding this school and community request.

Sincerely, (your name here)
