Friends of Reed – Humanities Academy

Woosley Fire Donations

The Humanities Academy is collecting anything and everything for the fire victims who have lost everything. If you have dog food, bikes, clothes, dishes, blankets, towels, etc… please bring to school. You can drop off to Ms. Szymanski or Ms. Holbrook’s room. It is the season for giving, but also has been a time of devastation to many of our local residents who have lost everything. Let us be thankful for what we have, and inspire our kids to give a little of what they have. Donations will be collected until Winter Break…and possibly after if still needed.

We are THANKFUL for…
• Our amazing teachers and their commitment to the Humanities Academy!

• Our fabulous volunteers who are dedicated to this vibrant and active SLC!

• Our students who we believe are the brightest and most creative minds in MS!

Thanksgiving is truly a time to be THANKFUL for all the good things in your life.

We hope that you count the Humanities Academy as one of those things to be THANKFUL for. As our ANNUAL GIVING CAMPAIGN continues we hope that you will keep us in mind during this giving season.

We have so many wonderful programs planned for our students and WE NEED YOUR HELP! That’s where Annual Gicing comes in. Your tax-free donations are vital to fill the budget gap that LAUSD does not cover. You can donate by clicking on Every dollar is important!

STRIKE!! Hopefully Not, but now that I have your attention:

Hello, I realize by now many of the parents of the Reed Middle School community have heard of the possibility of a job action by teachers and other UTLA union members, however, most of what you are hearing in the press, and social media is just not true. For this reason, I have scheduled a school wide meeting for ALL PARENTS to attend and hear about the REAL issues facing STUDENTS, COUNSELORS, NURSES, LIBRARIANS, and TEACHERS.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, 4 December, beginning at 5:30pm, in the auditorium of Walter Reed Middle School. A representative from UTLA will be at this meeting to give even more details, as well as answer questions you may have. The parents of our “feeder” schools are invited as well, as this is a possible event that affects our entire community. Please join us, and support us in this campaign to insure your children get the best education they can from UTLA members, and persuade LAUSD to really think about what’s best for them. Hope to see you at this important meeting, Sincerely,

Eric Gallagher
