REED'S GOT TALENT SHOW

Auditions for the Reeds got Talent show is this Friday the 14th.  Those interested should sign up in room 217 during breakfast or at nutrition. If you are a band you can show Ms. Szymanski a video instead of attending the auditions, but you must do that before Sept 14th

Auditions are open to any student, or group of students at Reed. They must plan on coming to:

* Auditions: Friday, September 14th, 3pm - 6pm, in the auditorium. You must be accepted by the audition crew to perform in the Talent Show. 

* Mandatory Tech rehearsal, Auditorium, Thursday, Oct. 4th, 3-6 pm.

* Mandatory Dress rehearsal, Auditorium, Thursday, Oct 18th, 3-6 pm.

* Talent Show!! Auditorium, Friday, Oct. 19th, 6pm call, 7pm show.

ETHICAL CHOICES PROGRAM 9/20 & 9/21

The Ethical Choices Program will be coming to speak with Humanities Academy 7th at 8th Graders on 9/20 and 9/21!  The presentation will cover...

Environment and Modern Agriculture presentation:

*Discussion on the importance of taking care of the planet.

*A look at modern agriculture, including an introduction of how animals are raised in modern farms.

*A discussion of the natural resources needed to raise animals, including water, soil, and crops.

*An examination of some of the major problems affecting the planet: pollution, high levels of water usage, soil degradation, high usage of pesticides and herbicides, depletion of the oceans, rapid destruction of the rainforests and climate change.

*A look at the findings and recommendations of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Eco Watch, Food and Water Watch among others.

*A look at celebrities who are good role models for more environmentally friendly eating (athletes, musicians, leaders, business people, etc.).

*Information on currently available plant-based food options.

*Information about the latest meat and plant-based food technologies.
