 • Give Online through Friend of Reed, making sure to select "HUMANITIES" from the General Donation drop down menu

• Give by Check by simply filling out the Annual Giving Form, then return to the Main Office.

We have great things planned! From the Discovery Cube to LA Poet’s Society; Chromebooks to classic novels, we are filling budget gaps & making middle school the best it can be!

SCHOOL GOVERNANCE COUNCIL

Our school governance councils need parent input:

Shared Decision Making Council (SDM) meets every 2nd Tuesday, 3:10 - 4:10.  This group has oversight of student activities, promoting school culture and voting on special bell schedules.  Seven parents needed to serve on this committee.

School Site Council (SSC) meets every 3rd Tuesday, 3:10 - 4:10.  This group oversees how our federal funds are being spent and receives recommendations from the English Language Advisory Council (ELAC). Six parents needed to serve on this committee.

Please send self-nominations this week to Ms. Gamba via jgamba@lausd.net or a hard copy note may be dropped off in the main office.

This is a great way to get involved and contribute to Walter Reed's success.  No experience necessary!

SCREENAGERS

Fellow middle school Millikan's Math Academy will host the documentary SCREENAGERS, which examines the messy struggles over social media, video games, academics, internet addiction and how we can empower kids to best navigate the digital world.

This event is open to everyone -- parents, students and the community. Pizza, snacks and beverages will be sold before and after the movie. Wednesday, September 13 at 6:30pm.
