We hope you had a fun and relaxing Spring Break. Spring is in the air and there’s lots going on. Let’s all remind our students to stay focused for these final weeks of school to finish strong! 



to Christi and David Goodman for inviting their friend Rob Aigner, the adult son of Holocaust survivors to speak to our 8th graders. Rob shared his parents' stories of survival, and the students asked thoughtful and insightful questions. Please ask your 8th grader for their impressions of this unique experience, particularly how people can survive horrifying experiences and go on to live meaningful lives filled with hope and love. Thank you also to Ms. Siminski and Ms. Dagilis for supporting what was an outstanding enrichment event. 



Join us this Wednesday, April,19th at 6:30-8pm in the Cafeteria for the Annual Potluck Dinner + New “FOR” Board Elections. Parent groups from all sectors of the Walter Reed community join to host this fun event. Its a great chance to meet other parents, and learn more about what makes Walter Reed a top LAUSD middle school! Come and bring a dish to share (6th/salad, 7th/side dish, 8th/main dish). 



Your 6th and 7th grade students will be treated to a series of exceptional Shakespeare Workshops (funded by you!) 6th grade - April 28th // 7th grade - May 26th. 

•VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR 6th GRADE – April 28 from 9am – 12 noon. We need some adult chaperones to help out with kid wrangling, snack bringing, and setting up the library for the performance piece. As a bonus, the adults can watch a fun abbreviated version of A Midsummer Night's Dream, always a hit! Can you help? Please email us with your availability at 



The Reed Spring Festival + Silent Auction is coming up on April 27th and we have a few ways you can be involved! 


• AUCTION BASKETS are being formed now in your child’s period 1 class. Ask your child about their class theme and send your donations to school with your student. 


• REEDCHELLA! Our Student Council will host ReedChella on April 28th from 1:00- 8pm. A showcase of talent from our Reed students, parents and staff! 

Performances/acts will take place on stage during the festival. We are looking for: Students, Parents, Alumni, Teachers that would like to sing, dance or have an act that you would like to share with our community. ALL welcome… STUDENT Bands, Parent Bands, Teacher groups, Lipsync acts or Martial Arts. Interested? Please contact Margaret Goldenberg at: 



An amazing 8th Grade Dance is being planned for April 29th from 6-9:30pm, here’s the details: 

1) VOLUNTEER: The Dance Committee needs YOUR HELP! With lots of fun activities for our culminating students, there is need for set-up help and parent chaperones. To learn more and sign up to volunteer, please contact Kim Shlesinger at:

5) WELCOME BACK! We know you had an amazing time in New York over the break! Thanks to Ms. Bob and the rest of our chaperones for organizing and overseeing a cultural extravaganza of Broadway plays, museums tours, and all the other sights and sounds of the Big Apple.

We are looking for a graphic artist good with branding and/or page layout to help Friends of Reed create fresh Annual Giving Forms, clarifying the information sent out and uniting our 6 SLC’s. The forms would not go out until next year. Interested?? Let us know at: 



Remember to save those shopping receipts and bring them to Reed’s Main Office for real $$$. When you shop on Ventura Boulevard (between Carpenter Avenue and Whitsett, including Trader Joes and Vons shopping receipts) we receive 10% of the receipts collected (up to $2,500) from the Studio City Improvement Association.
