Applications for the National Junior Honor Society are due on March 31, 2017 by 3:00 sharp.  Qualified students may get more information and pick up the applications from Ms. Sofio in Room 150, during nutrition and lunch only.

 WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR NJHS?

At Walter Reed Middle School, in accordance with national standards set by NJHS, students will first qualify for an invitation through their demonstration of success in the area of scholarship.  That means, students in 6th or 7th grade with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4 point scale can request an application. Students will then fill out the information sheet to give examples of their accomplishments in the remaining areas of Leadership, Service, Character, and Citizenship.  Therefore, just because a student qualifies based on their cumulative GPA (scholarship), does not mean they will not automatically be inducted into the NJHS.

WHAT IS NJHS?

Humanities students have a long tradition of joining National Junior Honor Society at Reed.  Students who join are recognized for their leadership and community service accomplishments.  As members, students will continue to participate in volunteer work both at Reed and in their community. For more information, check out NJHS at https://www.njhs.us/, or ask us by replying to this email.
